Storytelling

Another book everybody seemed to love was Cornelia Funke’s ‘Inkheart‘. The story sounds compelling, about Meggie whose father is a  storyteller. His voice makes the stories he reads out loud come true. But he has stopped reading out loud because his wife, Meggie’s mother, disappeared in one of the books. One day Mo and Meggie are challenged by a character from that very book who made it to the real world, and Mo has to start reading again.

A promising plot, and I was looking forward to reading it. I even made it through part II, ‘Inkspell‘. But I hated both.I did not find the vibration of the writer. I just didn’t like her writing style, and I think the story is just cruel, especially the second book. Everybody dies. Why would I read fantasy if not for a happy ending?!?

That was disappointing.
